Anti-Doping Research, Inc. (ADR) is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 by anti-doping pioneer Don Catlin, M.D. and colleagues as a dynamic new paradigm dedicated to creating novel solutions to modern-day doping issues in sports and competition. It focuses on Research, Analytical Services, Education, Program Development and Collaboration.
Sport is a vital element in the fabric of life and must be preserved and protected. Doping degrades sport and society and has a significant impact on those who practice it. The effects are widespread and include serious medical and mental health problems, development of success-by-any-means attitudes, and damage to entire breeds as seen in horse doping. Unfortunately, the lucrative rewards of sporting success create a constant challenge as people keep searching for new and undetectable drugs or techniques to thwart the system.
Anti-Doping Research has a multi-pronged approach to combat these challenges.
Research: ADR’s research focuses on identifying new doping drugs of concern and developing the tests to detect them. We also seek to improve detection methods and approaches for traditional drugs of concern.
Analytical Services: To support and advance the anti-doping movement, ADR offers its expertise in a range of services, including drug testing programs, supplement testing, specialized sample analysis, unknown product identification, forensic investigations, law enforcement support, and other relevant applications.
Education: Public interest in doping issues continues to rise. ADR seeks to focus this energy by working to expand the public understanding of the challenges facing athletes and the anti-doping community. We provide educational materials and information on our website and offer presentations to various groups.
Program Development and Improvement: ADR helps develop and improve existing drug testing programs in response to the changing environment and to ensure that the rules and regulations are understandable to competitors. We also create and coordinate positive programs that encourage athletes of all ages and levels to stay clean.
Collaboration: ADR has triggered a remarkable synergy among entities with common anti-doping goals, including professional sports, anti-doping organizations, supplement industry groups and manufacturers, the pharmaceutical industry, and the horse-racing community. A groundswell of support for anti-doping efforts has been established and directed toward the ultimate goal of eliminating the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports and competition.
